A Superstars Journey

Thursday, March 08, 2012

Flynn Copeland is a seasoned pro at Jungle Sports.  He has been doing the sessions for 3yrs and has followed a Jungle Journey all the way from CUBS, through the 3yr to 4.5yr Jungle TIGERS stage and is now playing soccer in in the final LIONS stage.  We spoke with Flynn's mum Jane, about his experiences and he has developed from his first term, to the present day.

"Since starting Jungle Cubs Flynn's independence and co-ordination have gone from barely existing to fairly skilled for someone his age. He now is excited to join in and is one of the leaders rather then hiding behind me and being to scared to approach other kids.

As a family we look forward to Saturday mornings when we can all attend Jungle Sports together. Its a great time for Flynn and his dad to participate in an activity they both enjoy, they are able to bond over new skill and achievements. Its a great morning that we are able to spend together.

The best part of Jungle Sports for me is seeing my kids enjoying learning and getting new skills that they can use. Getting them used to listening and following instructions from other people and enjoying the success and praise that they receive from the Gamekeepers gives me a great sense of pride in my kids. The interaction they have with the other kids and social skills, team work and enjoying team success are all things I hadn't considered before Jungle Sports and its really nice to see your kids act in such a grown up way.

Flynn has always enjoyed sports. since starting Jungle Sports in the CUBS sessions, Flynn's skills in a variety of sports has been outstanding, when he plays with other kids his co-ordination, reflex and anticipation skills means he is able to adapt quickly to the game which means he often out runs and plays his friends and even older children. As he has the skills he is not intimidated with playing older kids he keeps up and sometimes outshines kids a couple of years older.

Flynn's confidence has been the greatest improvement.  Sports have become his ice-breaker, if there is any sporting equipment lying around, Flynn is getting amongst it. His listening skills and ability to follow instructions has also improved which to a parent is priceless.

We have noticed Flynn has gone from a meek child who won't leave my side or participate to a young guy who is busting to get amongst it, he has learnt many skills. He enjoys sport so much and uses it as a social activity. He has also mastered the art of celebrating his achievements as he is always celebrating something with an aeroplane, Hi 5 or a Jungle Turtle."

Thanks for telling Flynn's story which is yet to be completed as he is at the start of his LION stage, where he will be learning more team skills and increasing his sporting repertoire!

"After receiving your newsletter this morning – it prompted me to write this email to let you know how impressed we are with your Jungle Sports class and leaders at the Guildford Grammar Gym venue (Sunday morning 9am sessions). After being given a ‘bring a friend for free’ voucher from a good friend of ours at our sons kindy – we thought we would give Jungle Soccer a go and see if it was worth getting up early on a Sunday morning for (I love my Sunday morning sleepins!!). The impression Dan and his helper made on that first morning.. and all subsequent mornings have now made our Sunday morning classes ones that we wouldn’t miss for the world! Not only has Dan and the other Gamekeepers been welcoming, fun, enthusiastic, genuine and professional each and every time – but the ability they also have to give each child one on one encouragement and attention has truly been impressive. Dan and the guys, seem to have a very natural and genuine rapport with the kids and luckily for the adults – also have fun senses of humour that help to keep us laughing and enjoying the class too. So thankyou for the classes, thanks for the fun – and most of all a huge thankyou for the team you have chosen to lead it. Great job! "
