EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS WA
Building
on our success with younger children, we’ve recently developed a new
program, Employability Skills WA which is aimed at equipping young
adults, year 10 and above with the skills they need to succeed in the
workplace and beyond. This program is designed to bridge
the gap between school, further education, apprenticeships and careers
by teaching pupils fundamental skills such as communication skills,
organisational skills, teamwork, problem solving and thinking outside
the square. Since
starting the program, Jungle Sports has worked with over 25 schools in
WA delivering unique and customised employability sessions. Every class is different and is tailored to each schools’ individual objectives. What can Jungle Sports bring to your school? Ø A one off session or a series of sessions; Ø Sessions customised to your school and pupils; Ø Individual program tailored to any sized group, age and ability; Ø Sessions can vary in length from one hour up to three hours; Ø Affordable and fun alternative to your school’s careers program; Ø Employability Skills sessions can be held on school grounds or at a neutral indoor sports halls. We come to you and bring the fun and learning to wherever is convenient. What do the pupils do in the Employability Skills WA sessions? Ø A
variety of team work, communication, co-operation and problem solving
games which result in the pupils showing initiative with a number of
different thought processes; Ø The sessions are lively, thought provoking, engaging and are suitable for all ability levels. Ø Each
session finishes with pupils analysing what they have learnt and how
these skills can be linked to further education and the working
environment. “We
have utilised Jungle Sports for events which target disadvantaged
target groups, such as Indigenous students, students at risk of
disengagement and culturally and linguistically diverse students. Many
of these students are at risk of disengaging from school and do not
usually respond to authority figures, however the majority of these
students have reacted positively to Jungle Sports and have enjoyed
participating in Jungle Sports activities.” Canning Coalition “The
Jungle Sports staffs’ effective communication skills, outgoing
personalities and the ability to relate to young people has made each
Jungle Sports session an exciting and engaging opportunity for young
people to develop their skills. As each session is
followed by a debrief, students are able to apply the skills to other
aspects of their lives, such as education and employment.” Canning Coalition If
you would like to give your pupils a head start in employment and
further education, call Jungle Sports on 9499 1800 to discuss how our
personalised sessions can help.
